Different Types of Cockroaches

German cockroach, Blattela Germanica

 

  • Life spans from 14-26 weeks.

  • Incubation period from 17days onwards.

  • Light brown 10-15mm long two dark brown bands on pronotum.(head)

  • Female may produce 30 per ootheca (egg).

  • Mainly found in areas were moisture and warmth such climates exists in kitchens were motors from white goods and food sources are high.

  • Will eat any foods this is why it is important to keep extremely clean premises especially when infestation present

  • Can be found in cracks and crevices look in door hinges of cupboards and behind fridge.

 

American Cockroach, Periplanta americana

  • - 28-44mm long

  • - Life spans 15-84weeks

  • - Incubation period from 25-40days

  • - Red/brown with yellow band to rear of pronotum (head)

  • - Ootheca (egg) may be found glued to surfaces

  • - Produces up to 50 egg cases*

  • - Each egg case may contain up to 25 eggs

  • - Males shorter then female

  • - Found in dark moist areas basements and sewer or subfloor located both indoor and outdoor.


         

 

Smokey Brown, Periplanta fulinosa

 

  • - 30-35mm long

  • - Life span 23-43weeks

  • - Incubation period 40 days

  • - Brown to black

  • - Producing up to 20 egg casings

  • - Each egg case contains up to 26 eggs

  • - Warm moist places example garages out house also known to invade houses.

 


 

Australia Cockroach, Periplaneta australasiae

 

  • - 30-35mm long

  • - Dark body with yellow areas on upper  thorax and on the margins of front wings

  • - Produces up to 24 eggs in a life time

  • - Found in warmer areas often outside in vegetation.

 

 

 

Brown Banded Cockroach, Supellains longipalpa

 

  • - 13-15mm long

  • - Life spans 12-16 weeks

  • - Incubation period 40 days

  • - Light brown

  • - Produces up to 18 eggs usually glued to surface

- Mostly found inside of buildings, wardrobes, office, furniture, restaurants, and hospitals

 

 

Oriental Cockroach, Blatta orientalis

 

  • - 20-24mm long

  • - Life span 9-35 weeks

  • - Incubation period 40-80 days

  • - Produces up 14 egg cases in a life span

  • - Each egg case containing up to 18 eggs

  • - Mostly found in cooler climates, such as vegetation or damp subfloors, walls or cellars.
