Female may lay hundreds of eggs in a life time period of up to 12 months. The young will moult up to five times after they hatch to reach adulthood. A blood meal between each moult is required to achieve development. The lifecycle of from egg to adult can be as short as 50 days depending on conditions and food source availability. The bedbug will usually feed a few hours prior to dawn and return to their hiding place in a crack or crevice or furniture and mattresses. Skin shed and excreta can be found on sheets sometimes an odour may also be found if infestation is high.
Bites are a result of the bed bug injecting an anticoagulant that can cause serve irritation to its victims. The irritations cause people to scratch which then causes an infection.
